Working on major national projects, it provides local delivery through offices in England and Scotland. With exciting schemes and a supportive environment that recognises military skills, Galliford Try is an excellent place for veterans to build successful second careers. Galliford Try is a headline sponsor of the ‘Turn to Starboard’ programme and promotes its ex-military opportunities. Around 100 veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and military spouses are currently employed. Galliford Try values the calmness under pressure, relationship building, time management, strategic planning and resilience that veterans offer. With defence sector projects, their experience is invaluable. Several veterans have been hired into non-technical roles and developed the required construction skills on the job. Formal training includes the GT Academy, with leadership courses by an ex-forces training provider. Relevant apprenticeships, qualifications, funding, and annual reviews aid skills growth. Two weeks’ additional leave accommodates reservist training and spousal demands. Ongoing communication and support is facilitated via our Military Network. A wellbeing programme offers 24/7 assistance and support adjustments are identified during onboarding. Galliford Try has Armed Forces Covenant accreditation and recently recieved their Gold Award, demonstrating their committment to recruiting and developing military talent. With major projects, structured transition support, personalised development and a collaborative company ethos, it provides an excellent environment for veterans to achieve fulfilling second careers in construction.
