Purpose of the role:
As a Site Engineer at Galliford Try, you will use your leadership, discipline, and attention to detail to create a safe and efficient site environment. Your adaptability, problem-solving, and teamwork will directly contribute to delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
You will coordinate site engineering activities to support safe and efficient delivery of works, maintaining accurate quality and survey records, ensuring equipment is calibrated, supporting planning and programming, mentoring junior engineers, and taking responsibility for company property.
With vacancies across a range of business units including highways, water (environment) and building, there are opportunities to work on projects that genuinely make a difference to communities across the UK.
What you will be doing:
- Contribute to a safe and “Knowingly Safe” working environment, promoting best practices on site.
- Coordinate site engineering activities, including setting out, surveying, and providing clear information to operatives and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate records, including diary entries, photographic evidence, as-built surveys, 2D/3D sketches, and quality documentation in line with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Carry out material reconciliations and ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated and properly maintained.
- Support planning, monitoring, and programming of site works to help achieve project objectives efficiently.
- Mentor and support junior or graduate engineers, sharing knowledge and practical experience. Identify and implement process improvements, innovations, and techniques to enhance site operations and reduce waste.
- Take responsibility for company property under your control, ensuring it is securely stored and well cared for.
