This Reserves Day (Wednesday 25th June), we take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible dedication of the UK’s reservists, ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Balancing civvy careers with military service, they play a vital role in our national defence and resilience, often juggling intense training, deployments, and professional responsibilities.
Behind every successful reservist is an employer who understands the value they bring, and goes the extra mile to support them. Across the UK, Forces-friendly employers are leading the way, offering flexible working, paid leave for training and mobilisation, and a strong commitment to helping reservists reintegrate seamlessly after periods of service. Upon return from deployment, reservists also receive reintegration support.
- SaluteMyJob supports the Armed Forces Covenant by offering flexible work arrangements, extra leave for training, and support for reservists' deployment. They help reservists transition to civilian careers through free online training, advice, and job search assistance, while also connecting employers with skilled reservists.
- AtkinsRéalis shows strong support for its reservist employees through its Partnering with Armed Forces programme. The company offers ten days of paid leave annually for training, hosts reservist recruitment fairs, and fosters an inclusive environment. - Mears Group PLC offers flexible leave for training and deployments, dedicated employment opportunities, and family support. As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, Mears promotes a forces-friendly workplace and values the contributions of reservists and their partners.
- Babcock International actively supports reservists, offering up to 10 days of paid leave for training, accommodating short-notice mobilisations, and valuing their unique skills. As part of its Armed Forces Covenant pledge, Babcock also actively recruits reservists and encourages participation in events like Reserves Day.
- Fujitsu supports reservists with flexible leave for training and mobilisation, up to 10 days of special paid leave, and financial top-ups if military pay falls short. As a Gold ERS award holder, Fujitsu encourages reservist engagement, actively recruits from the Armed Forces, and fosters a supportive workplace for service personnel.
