About Vodafone

Vodafone UK is a major telecom company providing mobile phone services, broadband, TV and converged communication solutions to consumer and business markets.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Community

Vodafone is a Gold Award Armed Forces Covenant employer with over 400 veterans in its UK workforce, making up more than 3% of its 12,000 employees. Their Armed Forces & Friends Network, now 400+ members strong, drives a year-round programme of activity focused on recruitment, inclusion, and support for service leavers, reservists, cadet force volunteers, and military families.

Vodafone offers guaranteed support to Armed Forces candidates attending careers events, two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and CFAVs, and additional leave options for spouses of deployed personnel. Through partnerships with CTP, SC Expos, and Tedworth House Rehabilitation Centre, they support both transitioning personnel and those medically discharged.

Their commitment is backed by internal talent mobility via the Vodafone GROW platform, targeted career support from veterans within the business, and a leadership culture that values transferable military skills like adaptability, resilience, and integrity.

Recognised as a top employer for wellbeing and diversity, Vodafone offers veterans not just jobs, but fulfilling careers with global reach, genuine development pathways, and a workplace culture that welcomes them with open arms.

What we offer:

We promote that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation

Vodafone is a Gold Award holder under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and actively champions its support for the Armed Forces across all levels of the business. Their 400+ strong Armed Forces & Friends Network leads internal awareness, training, and community engagement initiatives. Veterans are celebrated in internal comms, public news features, and award nominations—showcasing Vodafone as a visible, vocal forces-friendly employer.

We support the employment of veterans

Vodafone’s Talent Acquisition team provides guaranteed transition support to Armed Forces candidates who register interest at career fairs such as CTP and SC Expo. The business actively seeks SC and DV cleared talent, particularly within its Secure Business division. Once hired, veterans benefit from Vodafone’s internal GROW platform—offering skills assessments, learning, and clear development pathways to help them progress and thrive.

We offer flexible leave for military spouses

Vodafone recognises the challenges military families face, offering a range of flexible leave options for spouses of deployed personnel, including annual leave, carer’s leave and parental leave. This ensures families are supported during periods of deployment or relocation, helping them maintain stability and wellbeing alongside work.

We support our employees who are members of the Reserve Forces

Vodafone grants two weeks of additional paid leave each year to Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) to fulfil training requirements. The company also offers other flexible leave options and fosters an understanding culture to enable Reservists to meet their service commitments without sacrificing their career progression.

We support Military cadets

Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) are supported equally to Reservists at Vodafone, with access to two weeks' additional paid leave. The Armed Forces & Friends Network also helps CFAVs find peer support and access activities connected to the wider Defence community.

We support Service charities

Vodafone supports Armed Forces charities through sponsorship and fundraising. In 2024, they supported SSAFA through sponsorship of the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards and raised funds via charity auction contributions. Vodafone also backs employees taking part in events such as the Invictus Games and Ironman World Championships, helping to amplify their efforts and the causes they represent.

We support Armed Forces Day

Vodafone sponsors Armed Forces Rugby and attends key Defence events throughout the year. Internally, the Armed Forces & Friends Network marks Armed Forces Day and encourages active celebration and awareness across teams. Vodafone also uses this time to spotlight veteran stories and promote the value of service leavers within its workforce.

We offer commercial support to the Armed Forces community

We offer a discount on our products or services to members of the Armed Forces community

We support UK wounded, injured and sick Service personnel

Vodafone runs dedicated insight to industry workshops for wounded and medically discharged service personnel via the 8–10 Transition Courses at Tedworth House. These sessions—delivered by veterans and recruitment leads—offer insight into the world of work outside of the military, civilian careers, application advice, and confidence-building. Some attendees are also hosted at Vodafone’s Secure Business offices in Farnborough for further exposure to the workplace, operations tours, and informal peer discussions.
