Our Vision
At Betknowmore UK, we work tirelessly to raise awarness, deliver support services and, through education, create more understanding about gambling related harm. "We want people to be empowered, to live the life they want to lead".
Why we're here
We exist to provide support and training services that prevent and address personal and societal harms caused by gambling. Together we aim to raise awareness, deliver support services and, through education, create more understanding about gambling harm.
How we started
Betknowmore UK was started in 2013 by Frankie Graham, who lived with a gambling addiction for nearly 20 years, prior to successful recovery in 2006. We have provided a range of award-winning support and training services, designed to address issues of gambling harm. Our organisation has lived experience of gambling addiction and recovery at its core, and all services are co-produced with the voice of Experts by Experience merging with evidence-based approaches.
If you need help for your gambling or would just like to talk about it then fill in the form on our website. We offer a Peer to Peer service which means that you will be able to talk to someone who has been through the same situation and will not judge you.
Betknowmore UK are part of the Armed Forces Gambling Support Network (AFGSN) which is a collaboration of partner organisations across the UK all working together on the delivery of the programme. The MOD have identified Gambling Related Harms as one of the most significant issues facing the UK Armed Forces. Veterans are ten times more likely to have gambling issues adversley impacting them and those around them than the UK population. Our vision is to reduce the risk and incidence of gambling related harm amongst the military and veterans' community by creating an enduring support service for armed forces personnel, veterans and the colleagues, friends and families of both.
The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities aimed at the Armed Forces community to help raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGSN.
The programme is called Battling the Odds.
We offer specific help for serving personnel or veterans who would like to enter recovery.
We are silver ERS holders and have signed the Pride with Veterans Standards also.
