Discover your new direction with Expleo. Whether a veteran, reservist or cadet we are committed to helping you develop a rewarding new career path. We champion hiring ex-forces personnel, actively recruiting talent from the armed forces community in recognition of the valuable experience, skills and talent. Each year, we welcome many taking their first steps into the corporate world with us. Expleo offers the opportunity for service leavers and veterans to take the skills they have learned from the armed forces to build a new career and develop even further.
As an engineering, technology, and consulting services provider, Expleo recognises veterans' operational excellence and encourages them to join its 17,000-strong global team. With over 40 years' experience in optimising processes and systems, Expleo partners with organisations to drive business transformation.
The opportunity to diversify into new industries enables veterans to transfer military engineering skills into Expleo’s work with diverse OEM customers and partners. Veterans' relevance has never been higher, yet many employers overlook their value. Expleo understands what veterans offer, employing over 40 in the UK, with numbers growing. Veterans are represented across the organisation, from recruitment to management, ensuring career progression opportunities.
Recently awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award, Expleo is registered with CTP and attends careers fairs. A dedicated forces careers portal will launch soon. Most roles are in engineering and are of interest to Army, Navy, and Air Force leavers, particularly those able to support equipment they operated during service. Other opportunities suit veterans with transferable skills, such as administration and project management. Ex-forces personnel are known to excel in project management, applying their military experience of ‘getting things done’.
Entry-level roles offer starting salaries of £30,000. Flexible working arrangements and location contracts typically provide 37-hour weeks, with core hours from 10am to 3pm. Employees receive 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays. Established reservist policies include 10 extra days of paid leave for training. Additional support, such as a six-month sabbatical for a deployed Commanding Officer, is also available.
Expleo understands the needs of military spouses, offering flexibility during deployments. HR policies ensure personalised support is available. Structured career development maximises growth for all employees, with engineers following an Engineering Council career path. Veterans are assigned mentors from Expleo’s military community for guidance.
The 50+ member Armed Forces Group provides news, peer support, and insight into defence customers. In summary, Expleo actively encourages veterans to apply their operational skills within its engineering environment through dedicated recruitment and ongoing development. Its military network demonstrates a strong commitment to forces talent.

Claim Organisation ProfileAt Expleo, we are proud to be recognised as a Gold Award holder under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces community. Our support is visible and vocal – from regular references by our Managing Director in quarterly All Hands meetings to Armed Forces-themed content across our internal communications, breakout screens, and intranet. We actively champion veterans’ stories, highlight key military-linked events such as D-Day 80 and Remembrance, and provide ongoing education to our teams through briefings and presentations that challenge outdated perceptions and promote inclusive thinking.
Veterans make up over 7.5% of Expleo’s UK workforce – significantly above the national average. In the last year, 22 veterans joined our team, supported by a dedicated recruitment plan that targets the Armed Forces community through tailored content, job fairs, and platforms like Troopr and CTP. Our Armed Forces Group plays a direct role in candidate support, reviewing veteran applications and briefing hiring managers to ensure Armed Forces talent is understood and valued from the outset. Once hired, veterans join a community of peers with representation at all levels of the business, including leadership roles, demonstrating clear pathways for long-term career success.
We provide flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment.
Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) are granted up to 10 days of additional paid leave per year to fulfil their service commitments. This reflects Expleo’s belief that supporting Reservists strengthens both our national defence and our organisational resilience. Our internal Armed Forces Group provides Reservists with peer support, while hiring managers are given guidance to help them understand and accommodate these dual roles.
Expleo is proud to support the Cadet movement both internally and in the wider community. In addition to providing paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, we have supported local initiatives such as donating equipment to the Preston Sea Cadets to help upgrade their IT infrastructure. Our Armed Forces Group includes CFAVs and promotes cadet-related volunteering opportunities throughout the business.
Supporting military charities is a core part of our culture. Expleo regularly takes part in national fundraising efforts such as the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance events. In 2024, three of our employees participated in the D-Day 80 celebrations with CTW to raise awareness and funds for Walking With The Wounded. We use these moments not just to give back, but also to educate and engage our wider employee base in the value of Armed Forces support.
Armed Forces Day is a key part of Expleo’s annual calendar. We mark the occasion internally through communications and awareness activities, including content that showcases the achievements of our veteran employees. We are also active members of the Joining Forces network, regularly attending and hosting events to support the wider Armed Forces ecosystem.
We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all veterans, including those who have experienced injury or illness during service. While we don’t currently have a separate programme, our onboarding processes, internal support network, and inclusive learning and development programmes are designed to help all veterans transition confidently into civilian work. Our Armed Forces Group offers peer connection, while our L&D Academy ensures every employee – regardless of background – has the tools and support needed to thrive.
