Description
Qualsafe L3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3)
About the course
The Qualsafe Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) qualification opens doors for a range of career choices. The 5-day FREC 3 course is a nationally-recognised prehospital qualification that acts as a stepping stone for those seeking a career in the emergency services sector, but is also recommended if you work or volunteer as a first responder.
FREC 3 is the entry-level stage of the First Response Emergency Care pathway, so it is ideal for those looking to progress their careers within the emergency services, ambulance services and healthcare settings. It also supports specialist medical roles within law enforcement and security, energy and utilities, construction and military.
As a Level 3 qualification this training courses qualifies for ELCAS funding.
The qualsafe FREC 3 qualification was enhanced in 2025 to meet current standards in UK pre-hospital care. The revised FREC 3 covers core skills like trauma care and bleeding, airway management and medical oxygen with a stronger practical element, and has been expanded to include environmental exposures like hypothermia and drowning. With more focus on practical, scenario-based learning and assessments, the course provides a broad span of learning for first responders, event medics, and those working in high risk industries.
