Free Travel for Veterans and Serving Personnel

Many rail and bus operators are once again offering free travel for veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces across Remembrance weekend. Here are some of the main offers to know about (check your local providers for the latest updates):

    National Rail and Bus Services

    London and South East

    • Transport for London (TfL) – Ex-Service personnel with TfL's Veterans’ Oyster Card receive free travel on buses, trams, the Tube, DLR, London Overground, and some National Rail services within London.

    Planning Your Route

Whether you’re heading to the Cenotaph, your local memorial, or travelling to meet others for a service, a bit of planning goes a long way. Try these tools for easy route-finding:

    • National Rail – You can use their Journey Planner to find times, connections, and operator-specific offers.
    • Citymapper – to map your full journey across public transport and walking
    • Google Maps – to check road closures and walking routes near remembrance events

As you travel this weekend, take a moment to notice the small tributes around you, from the poppy-covered Southeastern trains to drivers proudly wearing poppies. If you spot something meaningful on your journey, share it with the Troopr community by tagging us in your post. These moments of remembrance and connection remind us why this weekend matters.
