Free Travel for Veterans and Serving Personnel
Many rail and bus operators are once again offering free travel for veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces across Remembrance weekend. Here are some of the main offers to know about (check your local providers for the latest updates):
National Rail and Bus Services
- Southeastern – Free travel across the network for veterans and serving personnel. Keep an eye out for their poppy-covered trains on the day.
- Avanti West Coast, LNER, Great Western Railway, and CrossCountry – Free travel when in uniform or carrying military ID.
- Northern, TransPennine Express, ScotRail and Transport for Wales – Most operators are running similar free-travel schemes for veterans and serving personnel.
- Bus services – Operators like Stagecoach, Arriva, and Go North East are also offering free rides on Sunday; check your local operator’s website for confirmation.
London and South East
- Transport for London (TfL) – Ex-Service personnel with TfL's Veterans’ Oyster Card receive free travel on buses, trams, the Tube, DLR, London Overground, and some National Rail services within London.
