Ascent Flight Training is a flying school providing professional pilot training and type ratings for commercial airlines and private individuals.
Appointed in 2008 to deliver modern, efficient flying training for the UK Ministry of Defence, Ascent Flight Training was created as a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Babcock International. Within the UK Military Flight Training System, Ascent is responsible for training design and delivery to develop future aircrews.
Nearly 100 veterans are currently employed by Ascent in the UK. Their strong work ethic, loyalty and teamwork are assets, along with passion for training rooted in their own experience that skills are vital. Ascent leverages these capabilities across its RAF sites training all three military branches in areas like flight instruction, ground school, and simulators.
Veterans' knowledge aids Ascent's provision of elementary, basic, rotary wing, and advanced jet training to the RAF and Navy. Ex-military staff's skills also suit business support functions like scheduling, administration, and operations at Ascent's Bristol headquarters in roles ranging from project management to finance.
Ascent advertises roles with the Career Transition Partnership and Women in Defence, sponsors conferences, and will open a talent registration list as part of a relaunch initiative with the RAF. The reservist policy provides additional leave, and community STEM support is offered through schools.
With deep defence expertise and strong military representation, Ascent Flight Training provides fulfilling second careers where veterans' skills and passion for training directly enhance mission-critical aerospace instruction.
