Description
V1P Tayside, established on September 1st, 2015, collaborates with Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership and NHS Tayside to provide veterans' services across the Tayside community, including areas such as Dundee, Perthshire, and Angus.
The team at V1P Tayside consists of dedicated professionals, including Veterans Peer Support Workers, Clinicians, Therapists, and Administration staff. They offer a range of essential services, including:
-
Information and Signposting: Providing veterans with valuable information and directing them to appropriate resources.
-
Understanding and Listening: Offering a compassionate ear to veterans who need someone to talk to.
-
Support and Social Networking: Assisting veterans in building a support network and addressing their social needs.
-
Health and Well-being Support: Promoting the overall well-being of veterans.
Veterans First Point Tayside offers both face-to-face appointments at The Cottage (Kings Cross Hospital in Dundee) and PRI (Friday clinical only, while Peer Support Worker appointments vary by need). They also provide NEAR ME and telephone appointments in conjunction with on-site appointments.
Due to their limited team size, they request that individuals contact them through the provided methods and attend only if they have scheduled clinical and/or peer support appointments. This ensures that a team member is available to assist and that confidential spaces are available.
They also offer group "Walk and Talk" sessions led by Peer Support Workers, with the day and time changing weekly. To stay updated on the schedule, individuals can contact the team or join their mailing list.
Referrals are welcome, and the team continues to accept new referrals. For clinical and veterans agency colleagues, they encourage reaching out if there are specific cases to discuss for referral suitability. Please contact the team if you wish to make a referral or self-refer for their services.
