About The Light Dragoons Regimental Charity
The charity exists to provide support to the members and former members of the Regiment and it's antecedent Regiments by way of offering assistance to those in need, suffering hardship or distress by way of grants, gifts or payments for services or facilities. The charity gives welfare grants to individuals who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. Families can also receive grants to help with bereavement costs such as funerals. Grants are given to other charities that provide goods, services of facilities for beneficiaries. Held within the charity is The Colonel's Appeal fund which was established to assist persons who are currently or who have served in The Light Dragoons Regiment on operational tours conducted since 1992, and their dependants. This fund provides facilities, equipment or services for the rehabilitation of those wounded or injured whilst serving, and also provides grants to other charities who assist members of The Light Dragoons and their dependants. For information regarding The Colonel Appeal Fund see the dedicated website: www.ldcolonelsappeal.com . The regiment also has an Association, with branches in London, Barnsley, Kirkaldy and Newcastle.
