Description

Engineering Apprentice Assessor - full training & development - MUST HAVE A BRITISH ARMY ENGINEERING BACKGROUND
up to £37,000

Have you worked for the British Army, Navy or RAF with experience in an engineering profession? We would like to talk to you about a career opportunity.
We are looking to help you transition your technical expertise into a rewarding career in assessment?

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a regulated Assessment organisation. This role is specifically designed for a veteran of the UK Armed Forces, ideally from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) or the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC), who can leverage their military engineering background to support the next generation of apprentices. However, we would love to talk to anyone from an engineering discipline from the Navy, RAF as well as Army.

The Role
As an Engineering Apprenticeship Assessor, you will be the guardian of quality for the Engineering Technician standard. You will evaluate apprentices across various pathways, including Aircraft Maintenance, Machining, Mechatronics, and Technical Support. Your primary mission is to ensure that assessments are robust, fair, and consistent, providing the vital feedback that helps apprentices transition into qualified professionals.
Requirements

Military Background: You must be a former member of the British Army, preferably with REME or RLC experience or Navy or RAF
Technical Expertise: A strong engineering background with "hands-on" experience and a professional engineering qualification
Professional Registration: Membership in a relevant institution (e.g., IMechE, IET, or TWI) or a commitment to working towards it
Communication: Exceptional professional discussion skills and the ability to put apprentices at ease while maintaining objectivity
Compliance: The ability to undergo and gain UK Security Clearance (SC)
Desired Qualifications: While not required immediately, an Assessor or IQA qualification is highly beneficial. We are happy to support the right candidate in working towards these certifications
Benefits

Generous Leave: 22 days of holiday plus a 3-day paid Christmas shutdown and all public holidays
Health & Wellbeing: Healthcare cash plan and Specsavers discount vouchers
