Site Manager
Basingstoke / Southern Region

Summary
Freedom is recruiting a Site Manager to oversee underground cable installation and replacement works across the Southern Region. Working with key clients including SSE and UK Power Networks (UKPN), you will ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards. Reporting to the Project Manager, this field‑based role will involve travel across multiple sites and close collaboration with engineering and project delivery teams.

 
Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all civil works linked to underground cable installation and replacement.
• Survey sites before, during and after construction, producing reports and re‑measures for the Project Manager.
• Plan, resource and set teams to work, ensuring compliance with procedures and safety standards.
• Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring all activities align with CDM and company requirements.
• Support the Project Manager with programmes, variation management and resolving on‑site issues.
• Motivate and mentor field teams to maintain high‑quality, consistent delivery.
• Compile job packs, permits and essential site documentation.
• Ensure clear communication with clients, stakeholders and internal teams.
   

Requirements

• Proven experience managing teams and site activity on HV cable or substation civil works.
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and safe working practices.
• NRSWA accreditation (essential).
• Ability to plan and organise multiple workstreams across different sites.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Confidence using IT systems for reporting and documentation.

Beneficial 

• IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or SSSTS.
• First Aid, Manual Handling or CDM Awareness training.
• Experience within the power, utilities or civil engineering sectors.
