The role
As a Weapons Engineering Instructor, you’ll be at the heart of delivering world-class training to Royal Navy personnel. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise in submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems and make a real impact on national defence. You’ll help ensure our armed forces are fully prepared to operate and maintain weapon handling systems safely and effectively across submarine platforms.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
• Delivering classroom and simulator-based training, primarily focused on Astute Class submarines
• Providing subject matter expertise to support training design and review
• Supporting governance through reporting, documentation, and assurance
• Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a technical point of contact for training queries
• Maintaining safe systems of work and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies
The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, and the set working times are Monday to Thursday (08:00–16:30) and Friday (08:00–13:00), totalling 37 hours per week.
Essential experience of the Weapons Engineering Instructor:
• Sound knowledge of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems
• Experience in Weapons Handling operations
Qualifications for the Weapons Engineering Instructor:
• Qualified Weapons System Board – Competent User Level 3 (CU3) certification
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
