Breakeven offers free, specialist gambling-harm treatment designed to help you regain control, regain your wellbeing and move beyond gambling-related harm. Their programme is flexible, accessible, and tailored to meet the needs of individuals — including members of the Armed Forces community.
Your Treatment Journey
- Self-referral via phone, email or contact form.
- Contact from Breakeven within 48 hours of referral.
- Assessment conducted the following week to understand your situation.
- Agree a treatment plan and begin sessions approximately one week after assessment.
- Treatment delivered face-to-face, by phone or video at convenient times: 50-minute sessions, usually weekly. Duration typically 8-12 weeks with follow-up and aftercare at 2 weeks, 3, 6 & 12 months.
- No waiting list – the service indicates rapid start times.
What the treatment covers
- Working on stopping or reducing gambling based on your goal.
- Examining triggers, urges and development of strategies to avoid relapse.
- Exploring underlying causes of gambling behaviour and supporting insight.
- Use of evidence-based therapies including CBT, REBT, Person-Centred Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Transactional Analysis.
- Support across multiple channels: face-to-face, telephone and remote video calls.

At Breakeven we support anyone affected by gambling related harm whether you are the gambler, partner, family member, friend or work colleague.
For every gambler, stats show that there are approximately 10 affected others that are willing to support the gambler and we are here to support you all. The treatment we provide is free, flexible and confidential and can be delivered via face to face, telephone or online sessions.
Our counsellors will provide you a safe space to talk about how gambling affects you and work with you to find ways to help you take control of your life, move forward and feel better.
