Lasting Powers of Attorney are legal documents which let you give authority to one or more people to make decisions and take action on your behalf if, for whatever reason, you are unable to decide or act for yourself. The documents allow you to state in advance who you would like to help you, how and when they should act if you lose mental capacity through accident or illness.

There are two versions of Lasting Power of Attorney – one addresses property and financial affairs, and the other health and welfare matters.

Once drafted, Lasting Powers of Attorney must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before they can be used. With regard to your property and financial affaris, whilst you have mental capacity your Attorney(s) can only step in if you ask them to. The Health & Welfare document will only ever be used if you lose mental capacity.

Any individual can make their own Lasting Powers of Attorney through the Office of the Public Guardian’s website – www.gov.uk/opg

For those who do not have the confidence or ability to make their own Lasting Powers of Attorney, Allied Services Trust has professionally trained staff who can help you to understand the documents and draft them for you. We do charge a fee, but only to over our overheads on a not-for-profit basis so we are affordable. We offer charitable discounts for those with incomes below £12,000 per annum, and further reductions for those in receipt of exempting benefits.

For those who have do not have family or friends willing or able to act as their Attorney, Allied Services Trust can take the appointment.

Prices can range from £330 - £132 depending on your circunstances and whether you want exclusivley Property & Financial, or Health & Welfare, or both.
