Woody's Lodge: Socialising & Support For Veterans (Barry)
Description
Woody’s Lodge is a social hub for a wide variety of people connected to veterans, emergency service leavers and their families regardless of their age, experience or background. Here at Woody’s we’ve discovered that by bringing people together, we can reduce isolation and help veterans to start rebuilding their lives.
Here at Woody’s Lodge, we've found that it’s easy for veterans of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services to fall through the cracks and become isolated or find that they stop socialising with friends as much after their service is finished. However, we provide a meeting space dedicated to helping our beneficiaries to reconnect with their peers as well as with their own friends and family, sharing their common experiences across all ages and service background. We've found that with new-found friends or with old friendships rekindled, isolation and loneliness can become a thing of the past as the problems of the world seem less overwhelming. We also run a minibus transport with wheelchair access to and from the lodge. Our Minibus has the capacity to transport 6 patrons, including space for one wheelchair at any one time. Our service is part-funded by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity which enables us to provide direct transport support to Royal Navy and Royal Marine veterans.
Email us on the link provided with any questions, or to book the minibus.
