The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an electrically biased Senior Cost Engineer to join our Work Winning team at NG Bailey in London.

Working closely with our Bid and Cost Management teams, you’ll develop accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects from pre-tender through to post-tender stage.

You’ll work alongside Bid and Cost Managers to shape pricing strategies, using your electrical expertise and commercial awareness to identify risks, challenge solutions and suggest cost-effective alternatives that strengthen our competitive position.

As a senior team member, you’ll also support and mentor junior Cost Engineers, sharing your knowledge and developing capability across the team.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and competitive MEP estimates, with a strong focus on electrical services.
Produce detailed take-offs and measures from drawings and specifications.
Price labour, materials, subcontractors and plant using current market information and appropriate productivity allowances.
Work with Bid and Cost Managers to develop bid and pricing strategies.
Use your technical knowledge to challenge solutions and identify cost-effective alternatives.
Assess and adjudicate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Maintain awareness of market pricing and competition to ensure estimates remain competitive.
Work with stakeholders throughout the tender process to deliver accurate, compliant submissions on time.
Support and mentor junior Cost Engineers.
Provide an effective tender handover to project delivery teams following contract award.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be an experienced Electrical Cost Engineer or Estimator with a strong understanding of MEP/building services and an interest in the strategy behind winning work.

You’ll have:

Strong electrical estimating/cost engineering experience within MEP or building services.
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and produce accurate take-offs.
Experience pricing electrical labour, materials, subcontractors and plant.
Good understanding of tendering and work-winning processes.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify risk, opportunity and alternative solutions.
Confidence assessing and challenging supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
