About the role

We are on the lookout for a Trainee Technologist to join our Garment team within our Quality function. You will help support to deliver safe, legal, responsibly sourced, quality products for your area always focusing on our customers and demonstrating value-led behaviour.

Please note, this is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity.
You will be responsible for
  • Supporting my Technical Manager and commercial category to ensure that products meet the product brief/specification, Tesco rules & policies and customer expectations.
  • Supporting my Technical manager in developing consistent construction methods.
  • Working with my Technical Manager to minimize cost to the supply chain and product range, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for consistent quality of products and signing off products where appropriate.
  • Monitoring all quality and customer feedback and implementing action plans to resolve issues raised and prevent them happening again.
  • Escalating and gathering data to support Incident management and enforcement challenges in my product area.
  • Inputting product, benchmarking, process and improvement ideas into the New Product Development plan.
  • Input into Category Teams Strategy focusing on the customer, supplying data to identify the best suppliers and sources from a product , sustainability and ethical first initiative.
  • Aware of technology to drive the business forward, reducing lead time, cost & improving sustainability, 3D, Digi-eye.
  • Assisting to ensure my suppliers meet our audit requirements, ensuring they have action plans to drive improvement.
  • Supporting my TM and category to monitor supplier and product performance, communicating trends to the team.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
You will need
  • Relevant qualification(s) in a related area.
  • Understanding of pattern construction.
  • Understanding of fabric performance.
  • Understanding of retail and customer needs.
  • Passion for fashion.
  • Excel knowledge.
  • Word & PowerPoint knowledge.
  • 3D CAD Software.
  • Basic awareness of PLM Software.
