About the Role

As a Works Planner within Nottingham City Council's Housing Services Voids Team, you will play a key role in organising and coordinating repairs and maintenance activities to ensure empty homes are brought back into use efficiently. You will be responsible for planning daily workloads for trade operatives and contractors, scheduling appointments, and monitoring progress to ensure service targets are met.

Using a range of digital systems, you will update appointment diaries, manage variations, track completed works, and maintain accurate records. You will work closely with operatives, contractors, managers, and tenants, communicating clearly and professionally to resolve scheduling issues, reorganise appointments, and support the smooth running of the service.

The role also includes providing reliable administrative support-preparing documentation, maintaining spreadsheets and databases, raising orders, and assisting with meeting coordination. You will help new team members understand systems and processes and contribute to a positive, customer-focused service culture.

We are looking for someone organised, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent service. If you thrive in a busy environment, enjoy problem-solving, and can balance multiple priorities, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact for our residents and communities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate.
  2. A well organised and a methodical approach to completing tasks and prioritisation skills.
  3. Ability to develop and present written or verbal information in a clear and concise manner.
  4. Proven ability to work in a pressurised environment under own initiative.
  5. Proficient in the use of all Microsoft programmes to produce documents such as letters, memos, reports etc.
  6. Experience of working in an environment that must demonstrate value for money.

Full duties of the job description can be found here.

Please ensure you demonstrate clearly how you meet the 6 requirements in your CV & supporting document.

We recognise that artificial intelligence (AI) can be a helpful tool when preparing your application. AI can guide you, but only your own words and experiences truly matter - we want to see the real you. All examples and statements must be your own, accurate, and reflect your true experience and values. AI tools do not understand context, think critically, or assess the reliability of information, which means AI-generated responses can feel generic and may not accurately represent who you are. We recruit fairly and inclusively - showing your real self is what helps you succeed.

Closing Date: 19th February 2026 (11:59pm) - Please note there may be occasions where we close the advert before the closing date, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
