Description
Families' Activity Breaks (FAB) is a non-public funded charity that organizes fun and challenging activity camps across the UK for bereaved Military families. A FAB Camp is a fully-paid week away for families who have lost a parent or family member while serving in the British Armed Forces. The camps provide a welcome break and an opportunity to socialize with others who have experienced a similar loss. To be eligible for a FAB camp, the child must be 19 years old or younger on the first day of the camp and have suffered a loss within the criteria. Priority is given to families meeting these conditions, but others will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. The camps are staffed by volunteers from the Armed Forces, Defence civilians, and Ex-Service personnel who are trained to support children and young adults facing bereavement. To find out more or register for updates, use the contact form on the website. A small holding deposit is required to secure a place, but it will be returned upon arrival at the camp.
About FAB Families' Activity Breaks
Families' Activity Breaks (FAB) provide fun and challenging activity camps around the UK for bereaved military families.
FAB is a non-public funded, tri-service charity (registered charity no.1178108, SC054207), providing a welcome break to meet and socialise with others who have experienced a similar loss
If your child is 19 years old or younger on the first day of camp, and has suffered the loss of a serving loved one in the Armed Forces, then you may be eligible for a FAB camp. FAB aims to be inclusive rather than exclusive. If your circumstance does not quite fit this criteria, please do get in touch as the committee will consider these on a case-by-case basis.
The backbone of FAB is the volunteer network. To be a volunteer you must be serving in the Armed Forces, a Veteran or Defence Civilian. All volunteers are trained in bereavement support for all the family. Volunteers are there to lend a helping hand throughout the FAB camp.
We also have Ambassadors, who are families who have attended camps, and are willing to talk to you about what you can expect on a FAB camp
