Description

We are seeking proactive, resilient and enthusiastic individuals who would value the opportunity to join our Student Life team supporting students in our residences. Applicants should have a clear understanding of the mission and values of the University and how these are fundamental to Hope's aspirations for student residential life.

Successful candidates will have empathy with the social, academic and support needs of students in residential halls and have a good understanding of the pressures and challenges in the lives of young people. Wellbeing Assistants are part of a dynamic team which works across the halls of residence on all three campuses.

Supporting the Director of Student Life in all areas of residential life work and working with the team Coordinator, Wellbeing Assistants have a particular focus on building hall communities, settling students into halls, establishing and running hall committees, providing a point of contact for residential students and ensuring that there is a vibrant and exciting campus social life for those students to take part in. Applicants should also be prepared to provide initial pastoral support to individual students where necessary, the ability to develop a clear understanding of the University's support structures and to signpost those students to the appropriate services.

Day-to-day tasks will include working five days a week, including weekends and evenings supporting students. Specifically, promoting and organising social events, facilitating hall meetings as appropriate, providing a drop-in signposting service and identifying any students in need.

Candidates will normally be registered for a postgraduate degree (not PGCE and Social Work as these courses include intensive work-based placements) at Liverpool Hope for the academic year 2026-2027 and ideally will have completed their undergraduate study at the University. Candidates currently registered on final year undergraduate awards (not including BA QTS) will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity for current students who wish to be part of a team offering support to students and to develop skills in student support and wellbeing.

This post is a fixed-term position from September 2026 until June 2027. The hours of work are an average of 20 hours a week, typically 5 evenings a week (including Saturday and Sunday), some weekend and daytime duties, out-of-hours contact and admin hours as appropriate.

Benefits include:

  • Bursary plus free accommodation in halls of residence
  • Certificated training, including First Aid
  • Benefits of being part of the staff community which includes access to the staff development programme

Interviews are scheduled to take place during the last week in February 2026.

(Open to current Liverpool Hope students only)
