Teaching Assistant 1:1
St Paul's Catholic Primary School and Nursery
Salary: Band 3 (£23,152 full time equivalent)
Hours: 1x 32.5 hours per week
Monday - Friday, Term Time Only
Contract: Fixed Term initially
Reports to: Deputy Headteacher/Inclusion lead
Start date: ASAP
Closing date: Monday 23 February 2026
We are looking for a highly skilled Teaching Assistant to join our hard working team to work with a range of pupils that have a range of needs. The role will include working with pupils with special education needs. Duties may include some break and lunch time supervision, support in class and personal care. The role may also require supporting children with high needs in an internal provision.
The successful candidate will be someone who:
- Is happy to support the school's Catholic ethos and have a commitment to the school's mission statement.
- Values the importance of forming positive relationships with children, other staff, professionals and parents.
- Can support the class in creating a safe and secure environment for all children to learn.
- Is able to think creatively about how to help children overcome barriers to learning, and access the curriculum through personalised provision.
- Is confident to work individually where needed, and be flexible.
- Can work as part of a team, working alongside the class teacher to share responsibility for the progress of identified pupils.
- Can support children through interventions and groups as directed by the class teacher, adapting the learning as needed and reporting back the progress made.
- Can work on their own initiative with 1:1 children with SEND
- have experience or a passion for SEND particularly around SEMH.
