Description
SSAFA offers three support groups that provide events for bereaved families. These events offer peer support, a safe space to grieve, and a chance for respite. Participants find comfort in expressing their feelings and hearing others' experiences. The support groups connect people who have experienced similar tragedies, allowing them to discuss their emotions in a compassionate environment. These groups organize one or two-day events throughout the year, providing peer-to-peer support in a secure setting.
There are three specific support groups:
- Bereaved Support Group: For individuals (18+) who have lost a veteran or Serving Armed Forces Personnel family member.
- Military Families Affected by Suicide: Aimed at those (18+) who have lost a loved one in the Armed Forces to suicide.
- Families of Wounded Injured and Sick Personnel (FISP): This group supports spouses/partners/parents or caregivers (18+) of wounded, injured, or sick Armed Forces personnel. Membership is available by completing a form at the website provided.
