Brief Description
12 Month Fixed Term opportunity for a Assistant Analyst (Energy Bureau) to join the Shared Services team who deliver a range of specialist processes that directly influence the performance, as well as the experience of our customers and suppliers at Network Rail. These services include payroll, accounts, finance, controls and compliance, reporting, recruitment, and helpdesk support.

Assistant Analyst (Energy Bureau)
Salary : £26,936 per annum (band 5)

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Location : This role is based in Milton Keynes and requires 3 days per week in the office - f or this role you need to live within 75 minutes of The Quadrant in Milton Keynes.
This role is centered on providing administrative support, with a strong focus on reconciling utility invoice payments and maintaining accurate records across energy-related processes.
As a valued member of the Energy Bureau team, you'll assist with a range of core administrative functions, including:
- Information management
- Tenant billing
- Utility off-charging
- Invoice validation
- Query resolution
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, particularly when addressing discrepancies or resolving issues as they arise.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, including the ability to create and work with VBA macros.
Main Responsibilities
- Validate utility invoices (electricity, gas, and water) and manage supplier billing queries
- Create and maintain tenant billing records and invoices
- Raise purchase orders and ensure prompt payment of invoices to suppliers
- Generate bills for external customers which receive utility supplies from Network Rail through the off-charging process
- Resolve queries from customers, both internal and external to Network Rail
- Upload data and documents and make changes to the Energy Link database
- Undertake the monitoring, measuring, analysis and reporting of energy usage
- Support the development and continuous improvement of processes and services
What would the Ideal Candidate have?
- Experience of utility invoicing from either a supply or customer environment
- Demonstrates effective customer service experience, with the ability to manage queries confidently and professionally
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the creation and use of VBA macros
- Has a solid understanding of invoice creation and experience within the utility industry
- Possesses strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to present information clearly and appropriately
- Experienced in extracting and reporting data from multiple sources, including databases
What could set you apart when applying?
- Previous experience in utilities management, accounts payable, financial processes, energy management or a bureau related role
- Creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Experience with Systems Link/Energy Manager
