Lancashire Music Service (LMS) is a business unit working within LCC in a competitive environment, generating business and providing outstanding standards of customer care for both internal and external customers.
About the Role:
LMS provides tuition, ensembles and support to meet the needs of children wishing to learn to play a musical instrument. The service has over 170 specialist teachers delivering weekly tuition to over 18,000 pupils within excess of 26,000 instruments on loan to schools/parents across the county at any one time. LMS enables pupils to develop their musical skills further through a range of bands and orchestras. 8 Music Centres meet in the evenings providing a range of ensembles from beginner to advanced levels. 5 County Ensembles rehearse at weekends catering for the needs of advanced pupils.
The Business Support Team is focused on supporting and maintaining these standards and has a significant role in the continuing expansion of the Music Service by displaying a professional attitude and commitment to the delivery of a first-class administrative service in all aspects of our business.
Available Roles:
We are looking to recruit three casual Grade 3 Business Support Officers. These colleagues will support either the county ensembles, bands and orchestras or Preston Music Centre. They will support the following:
- Delivery of instrumental and singing lessons at the centres.
- Assist the ensemble directors and be responsible for undertaking the front of house duties
- Ensuring students are registered in and out of the centre on a weekly basis
- Maintain medical records and registers
- As well as any other administration tasks set by the ensemble directors or Heads of Centre
There are three posts as follows:
- The Saturday Centre post is 4 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. It is based at St Michael's Church of England High School, Astley Road, Chorley, PR7 1RS from 9.30am - 1.30pm
- The Thursday evening post is 3.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year during the school term (set by Lancashire Music Service). It is based at Corpus Christie Catholic High School, St Vincents Road, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 8QY with hours to be completed between 3.30pm - 7.00pm.
- A floating 2 hours a week, 38 weeks per year. With no fixed base, this post is designed to support administrative work of all of our music centres and to provide cover to each centre as and when there is demand around the county.
