Part Time / 14.5 Hours Per Week / Permanent
This is your chance to be the eyes and ears of the community - tackling issues like fly tipping, littering, and dog fouling, while working closely with local groups to improve your area.
This is a part time, permanent role working 14.5 hours over Thursday and Friday. On occasion you may be required to work evenings and weekends. You'll be based at St Marks Area however you'll be required to spend the majority of your day in a defined area of the City which you'll travel to using a Council provided vehicle.
What you'll be doing
Not one day will be the same in this varied role, one day you could be patrolling your designated area to report minor repairs and the next be identifying breaches of tenancy conditions. You'll be a visible and trusted presence in the community who engages with local residents and businesses to promote community pride. Using education and enforcement to address environmental concerns, your day to day activities will include, but not be limited to,: cleaning/maintenance of communal areas, removing rubbish and discarded materials, the safe clearing up of unpleasant substances and general litter picking. You'll be responsible for maintaining records and producing reports of work to be actioned. Ensuring the correct equipment, material and safety wear is ordered and worn in compliance with health and safety regulations.
In addition, you'll liaise with the tenants of your area to educate and signpost them to the necessary services that they need to encourage overall cleanliness of their community. This will include attempting to resolve any enquiries/complaints from the public giving general assistance and advice as appropriate, and forwarding any issues you cannot resolve onto the appropriate agencies.
What you'll need
As a positive person who has a can-do attitude, you'll have good customer service and the ability to deal with face-to-face interactions with members of the public. Within this role you may sometimes deal with conflicting situations so you must be able to handle these in a calm and professional manner. Showing empathy and understanding to the needs of disadvantaged groups in the provision of estate environmental services. You'll have experience of removing unpleasant substances, carrying out routine repairs and lifting heavy items keeping health and safety at the forefront of your mind.
Due to the nature of this role you must have a Full UK Driving License.
