Description

Full Time / 37 Hours / Permanent

What is a Finance Systems Technician? Some organisations may see this as a niche role that focuses solely on the outputs from an accounting package. At Leicester City Council, however, we think we offer a compelling role that can enable the right candidate to get to the heart of our organisation, make a real difference to our services, and take their career forward.

We also think 'systems' means more than just the accounting package. You'll lead the relationship between Finance and ICT and work closely with other colleagues on the Council's banking, income and payments systems.

With this breadth of involvement, you'll also be able to influence the way that both you and the role develop over time. There is a lot to do, but yours will be an influential role, which will give you the chance to develop your skills further.

This is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours per week. You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs.

What you'll be doing

As Finance Systems Technician you will be involved in finance systems upgrades, maintenance and development. Day to day you will support various users of the Councils finance systems, working particularly closely with the Council's Accountancy & Exchequer Teams. This will include ensuring key processes are completed.

You'll undertake project work and act as the lead where appropriate. This includes identifying potential system and process solutions to achieve revised business requirements or efficiencies.

This role will maintain best practice in financial standards and discipline and development of collaborative working relationships with staff and managers is maintained.

What you'll need

Your experience of working in a large organisation and accounting processes will enable you manage and maintain current systems, whilst using your analytical skills, you'll extract and interpret information and data to identify improvements to achieve business objectives and targets.

What we can offer you

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at out benefits calculator.
