We are looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to support a lovely 12-year-old girl with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in her home. She is a kind and caring young lady who communicates mostly through echolalic speech and gesture and thrives with routine, trust, and gentle support.
About Her:
- She enjoys calm, familiar environments and benefits from a consistent routine.
- She communicates mostly through echolalic speech and gesture, so someone who is observant, intuitive, and respectful of her communication style is essential.
- She needs time to build trust and feel comfortable with new people, so patience and consistency are key.
Your Role:
- Provide support with showering and personal care in a respectful, person-centred way.
- Observe and follow her established routines, allowing her to lead at her own pace.
- Build a trusting relationship through calm, consistent presence and gentle encouragement.
- Support will be 1 hour daily after school, with flexibility on weekends.
About You:
- You are calm, patient, and understanding, with a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
- Experience with non-verbal communication or autism is helpful, but not essential - the right attitude and willingness to learn are most important.
- You are reliable, respectful of privacy and dignity, and able to work closely with the family to ensure consistent care.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life by supporting her independence and well-being in a safe, familiar environment.
