With 300 veterans among its UK staff, Balfour Beatty offers a Military Talent Pathway program to aid service leavers, veterans and spouses in transitioning from military to civilian careers over their first 6 months.

The program provides structured development tailored to individuals' prior experience, new role needs, and progression goals. Ongoing learning facilitates career advancement. Balfour Beatty connects with service leavers through CTP fairs, webinars, and Company Insight Days.

Construction shares military strengths like teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, communication, adaptability and resilience. The Military Talent Pathway offers routes into project/site management, trades, safety, sustainability, IT, support services, planning, commercial, and quality functions.

Balfour Beatty suggests roles matching military backgrounds for easier transitions, but will fully train those seeking a new direction. Engineering skills are valued although not required.

As a Gold Award winner since 2017, Balfour Beatty is committed to recruiting and engaging veterans. The Armed Forces Network and Steering Group enable employees to contribute insights. Veterans are invited to be Regional Champions at careers events.
