Location: Central & Southern Scotland, North West England & Mid/North Wales

Salary: £32,240 with strong benefits package and career progression opportunities

Fixed-Term 12-month contract

Role

We are excited to launch our 12-month programme for a second year, covering both our Energy Networks and Renewables businesses designed for ex-military veterans. This initiative aims to help veterans advance their career goals and transition into permanent roles.

What You'll Be Doing

We will explore your career aspirations with you and assess your skills to create a customised programme. This will ensure you receive the appropriate development through formal training courses & hands-on experience..

As part of our one-year programme, you will embark on a journey of growth and development, supported by an experienced mentor. Throughout the programme, you will gain knowledge and understanding of our industry and the hands-on experience will grant you invaluable insights into Scottish Power, enabling you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the industry.

The primary focus of the programme is to enhance your skills to equip you with the knowledge and capabilities required to excel in your future career.

What You’ll Bring

We have a vast range of roles to fill to help deliver a low carbon future and we want to hear from people with various skills at all stages of their career.

Minimum Requirements

  • You will have at least 4 years military service and must be no more than 2 years post service by the programme start date of the 5 November 2025.
    For this programme, you’ll also need a driving licence as you’ll need to get to different sites during the programme.

If you would like to find out more about the programme and the opportunities, we have to offer we are holding open days for both our North and South programmes on the following dates:

  • Glasgow – 200 SVS, 200 St Vincent St, Glasgow G2 5SG - Tuesday 26th May from 9am-12pm
  • Chester – The Queen at Chester, 52 City Rd, Chester CH1 3AH – Tuesday 2nd June from 9am-12pm

About SP Energy Networks

We are SP Energy Networks. As a Distribution and Transmission Network Operator we keep electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire.

We do this through the network of Overhead Lines and Underground Cables which we own and maintain. No matter who you pay your bill to, we’re the people to contact if you have a power cut, need a new or upgraded power connection or spot an issue with our equipment. 

Our three regulated electricity businesses are:

  • SP Transmission PLC (SPT)
  • SP Distribution PLC (SPD)
  • SP Manweb PLC (SPM)
