Working hours: 37.5 per week - 9am-5.30pm, Mon-Fri
Join our dynamic Estates team as a Planning and Development Manager, where you’ll play a key role in delivering a diverse range of projects across the waste, minerals, renewable energy, and sustainability industry.
Reporting into the Head of Estates we are now seeking a highly driven and experienced Planning and Development Manager who will help identify development opportunities, secure planning consents and manage early-stage projects that drive value and support business growth. Collaborating with internal teams and external advisors, you’ll also be involved in securing legal agreements, developing scheme designs, and leading planning and regulatory submissions. What you’ll be doing
• Secure planning permissions and statutory consents to support the efficient delivery of operational activities across our sites.
• Identify and lead value-adding development opportunities that enhance the long-term potential of Grundon.
• Assess site feasibility by evaluating planning constraints, financial viability, and market potential in collaboration with the team
• Prepare and submit planning applications, EIAs, and manage external consultants.
• Monitor and keep under review all planning conditions affecting our sites and, where appropriate, apply for their variation or removal.
• Manage post-consent legal agreements, coordinating with the PED team to ensure agreements are delivered in a timely manner.
• Monitor local development plans and, in consultation with the Head of Estates, make submissions where appropriate to protect and promote the interests of the Company.
• To be part of liaison groups and, in consultation with the Marketing team, undertake Public Affairs activity to support existing facilities and promote proposed developments.
• To support the operational divisions within the business through the discharge of planning conditions
What you’ll need:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a planning or development role
• Degree accredited by RTPI and/or RICS, with membership or actively working towards membership of the relevant professional body.
• A strong interest in the waste, recycling, minerals, or broader sustainability sector.
• Solid understanding of planning processes, including EIA applications and planning appeals.
• Confident communicator with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to interpret financial models and support business cases.
• Technically proficient with experience using AutoCAD, MS Office and other planning tools (preferred but not required).
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Full UK driving license
