Description
Salary: Competitive + commission
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Working hours: 9am to 5pm, Mon-Fri, a total of 35 hours per week, though flexibility will be required.
Looking for a career with progression opportunities that plays to your strengths: persuasive writing, accurate proofreading, and diligent researching? The fast-moving waste management and environmental services sector has so much to offer, especially if reducing the impact of waste on the planet is a passion. As Bid Writer based at our Colnbrook office, near Heathrow, you will shadow industry professionals as you get up to speed with the waste industry and all the innovation that goes with it.
What you’ll be doing as Bid Writer
Supporting the Bid Manager with compiling bids and co-ordinating and writing responses, producing tenders offering sustainable waste management solutions tailored to each customer's requirements.
One week you could be compiling a bid for a multi-site retail or property management company, the next for an NHS Trust, local authority or other public-sector body, the next an airport or logistics business. You’ll need the ability to put yourself in customers’ shoes and see behind the questions being asked.
This is more than just a bid-writing role: you will play a hands-on part in assisting the Commercial team involved in devising sustainable and innovative waste proposals for customers with ‘waste streams’ that include general waste, recycling, hazardous and clinical.
What you’ll need
Ideally, you are educated to degree level and have studied environmental/sustainability-focused subjects/modules. We’d love previous bid writing or similar experience in the waste industry, but a high standard of written and verbal English is essential for producing professional tender documents. A full UK driving licence is a must for attending customer site visits across the South of England.
What we offer
• Competitive salary and benefits package that includes: discretionary company bonuses; pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this) with life insurance cover; 30 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), which will increase with service, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days' holiday
• Opportunities for professional growth and development.
• A supportive and inclusive work environment.
