The role
As a Fleet Programmes Cost and Estimating Manager you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be leading responsible for leading the Cost and Estimating disciplines within the Fleet Operations Directorate whilst providing SUBCON for all Joint Project Teams and is accountable for the performance nd results of these functions within the Babcock Role Framework Project Management role family.
This is an area manager role within the central hub of the Fleet Operations project and operations matrix model providing Cost and Estimating leadership to ensure alignment with Group policy and Business Contractual requirements.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for:
- Leadership of Fleet Operations Cost, Estimating and SUBCON Management
- Fleet Operations Business and Customer Interface for Cost and Estimating
- Internal assurance activities including audits to advance continuous improvement
- Management and Delivery of Fleet Operations Cost and Estimating Policy
- Application of Babcock's Principles in people and stakeholder management
This role is full time 36 hours per week and is based mainly in Faslane with the hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of Fleet Programmes Cost and Estimating Manager
- Extensive Cost and Estimating Management knowledge and experience
- Hold a professional project qualification such as APM (PMQ) or Prince 2
- Hold membership of a relevant body (RICS/CIOB/CIBSE/APM/PMI)
- Hold a relevant degree level qualification
- Hold a level 5 or above Leadership and Management qualification
Qualifications for the Fleet Programmes Cost and Estimating Manager
- Degree BSc - Business Degree (finance / Accountancy or other relevant subject) or equivalent.
- Experience - In addition to the above, the candidate will have significant experience with responsibility for control functions of major projects
- Chartered or working towards chartered status with a relevant body
- APM Project Management Qualification
- APM Project Risk Management Level 2
- APM Project Professional Qualification
- APMG Earned Value Management Practitioner
- APMG Project Planning & Controls Practitioner

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
