The role
As a Service Support Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The CI&E Commissioning Engineer shall report directly to the Head of Projects.
Working closely with the Site Manager, Site based Commissioning Team, and shipyard's operations team, the CI&E Commissioning Engineer provides commissioning and start-up support for the Cargo Handling Plant equipment for LPG and LNG carriers during the final building phase in the shipyard and as required through on board attendance during gas trials, in service and dry-docking contracts.
The role is mainly South Korea based in close proximity of the shipyard, however this position require frequent travel when attending gas trials, vessel's first voyage, etc.
Day-to-day, you'll be:
- Supporting the shipyard with testing and commissioning of:
- MCC's
- PLC Based Control Panels
- Hazardous Area Instrumentation and Electrical Equipment
- Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Gas Detection Equipment
- Communicating effectively with the Yard, Owner and Classification Society as required.
- Organising and Performing/Attending Factory Acceptance Tests, Performance Tests etc. at local vendors
- Preparation of Commissioning and Testing schedules, programs and Procedures.
- Involvement with the review of various aspects of the design and production of documents with a particular focus on the practical and preventive measures aspects of these.
- Part of team of engineers during performance tests on equipment for newbuild LPG and LNG carriers and achieving successful completion of trials.
- Resolving any technical issues relating to the gas plant during the commissioning and performance tests and offering assistance on any other areas of expertise to improve / reinforce LGE's image with Client and the Owners.
- Prior to performance tests, actively participate in planning meetings with Owner / Class / Yard as appropriate and resolve issues.
- Actively participate in the Continual Improvement Process (CIP) by providing feedback from site and Gas Trials.

Essential experience of the Service Support Engineer
- Engineering background essential, preferably marine.
- Hands-on technical competence - Electrical and Control (PLC) Systems including Hazardous Area Equipment
- Experience with servicing/calibrating HART protocol instrumentation.
- Reasonable experience with Low and Medium Voltage switchboard equipment.
- Clear and confident communicator
- Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Qualifications for the Service Support Engineer
- Practical experience in marine environment as CI&E engineer (ideally in a commissioning environment) or equivalent
