Brief Description
Works Delivery Southern is the Network Rail Partner in the SID (Southern Integrated Delivery), enacting Project 13 principles alongside our Business Partners Volker Fitzpatrick, Octavius, AtkinsRealis and Volker Rail. As the NR Partner, Works Delivery Southern deliver portfolios of renewals projects across every asset discipline as well as planned and reactive maintenance and 3 rd Party funded enhancements.
The role of Assistant Commercial Manager in Works Delivery Southern is vital to the successful delivery of these portfolios of work and provides the opportunity to work across any asset discipline in a progressive, fast paced and fun environment.

About the role (External)
1. Assist in the measurement and evaluation of the commercial value of payments, monitoring the correct certification of works prior to authorisation in accordance with contractual obligations.
2. Assist with the reporting on all commercial aspects of allocated projects.
3. Assist in the preparation of contract specification and pre-tender documentation.
4. Assist with the general procurement/commercial management on a variety of contract categories.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Basic level of commercial awareness
• Basic negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making.
• Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software.
Desirable
• Able to effectively communicate at the appropriate levels, both internally and externally
• Membership of an appropriate professional organisation, or working towards membership
• Experience of using electronic sourcing and/or procurement systems

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
Our Drugs and Alcohol Standard is changing as of 16.01.2023. All propective candidates who have not been offered a conditional role by 16.01.2023 will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.

BPSS government standard pre-employment vetting requires Network Rail to screen a potential employee's unspent criminal convictions and undertake 3 year career checks. Employment at Network Rail is subject to employees meeting the BPSS government standard pre-employment vetting.
