Brief Description
Are you a fire safety expert with a drive to make a real impact?
Come and join Network Rail's dynamic Southern Region Asset Management Team and help protect what matters most - people and infrastructure.
As our Fire Safety Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of fire safety excellence, overseeing compliance and innovation across one of the UK's most complex and vital transport networks. With a home base at London Blackfriars, you'll work on high-profile assets and infrastructure that keep millions moving.
About the role (External)
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection and Assessment : Conduct fire safety inspections and risk assessments, offering specialist advice to ensure compliance with fire safety standards.
- Technical Support : Interpret codes and standards to bolster fire safety across Network Rail's properties and infrastructure.
- Contract Monitoring : Oversee the delivery of fire safety equipment contracts, addressing any issues related to contracts and procurement.
- Supplier Accreditation : Review fire safety arrangements of suppliers during the accreditation process.
- Training and Advisory : Support and advise on fire safety training, empowering line management and staff to uphold their fire safety duties.
- Fire Investigation : Investigate significant fire incidents affecting our properties or infrastructure.
- Policy Development : Assist in creating and updating codes of practice and fire risk management procedures.
- Risk Assessments : Conduct and review fire risk assessments and inspections.
- Project Review : Evaluate fire safety strategies for projects across Network Rail's infrastructure.
- Coordination of Remedial Works : Manage and assure fire risk assessments from third-party contractors, coordinating necessary remedial actions.
What We're Looking For:
- Membership or graduate status with the Institution of Fire Engineers (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in fire safety inspection, risk assessment, and training delivery.
- In-depth understanding of UK fire safety legislation and relevant codes of practice.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
