Overseas Rent Allowance: Support for Renting Abroad
Description
If you're serving overseas and need to rent private accommodation, you may be eligible for Overseas Rent Allowance, which helps cover the rental costs. This allowance is available to Regulars and Full Time Reserve Service personnel, excluding Military Provost Guard Service. It's designed for situations where suitable public accommodation is unavailable. You'll receive it as a monthly payment with your salary, and you can use it for rent and utilities.
However, you can't claim it if you're in Service provided accommodation or if the property is owned by you, your spouse, civil partner, dependent child, or a non-public company with your financial interest. To claim, complete the required form and submit it to your Commanding Officer or their representative. You can also claim reimbursement for utilities through JPA iexpenses. More details can be found in the allowances and expenses user guide provided in JPA user guides.
